João Cancelo transfer negotiations intensify between Al-Hilal and Barcelona

Negotiations are underway for Portuguese defender João Cancelo to move from Al-Hilal to FC Barcelona on a permanent basis. While the player reportedly desires a return to Catalonia, the transfer is estimated to cost approximately 10 million euros.

Despite the ongoing talks, Al-Hilal has included Cancelo in its squad list for the 2026/27 season, assigning him the number 20 jersey. The Saudi Arabian club has already moved to secure a replacement, signing Noussair Mazraoui to fill his position.

At Barcelona, the acquisition is considered a priority for sporting director Deco and manager Hansi Flick due to the player's technical versatility. However, the club's ongoing fiscal challenges have reportedly delayed the official finalization of the deal.
