João Domingues wins first match in three months at Setúbal Open
João Domingues secured his first victory in three months at the Setúbal Open M25 tournament. The Portuguese player, ranked 598th in the ATP, defeated Spain’s Rafael Izquierdo Luque in a three-set match with scores of 6-4, 3-6, and 6-1.
This win marks Domingues’ 32nd victory of the year and makes him the first Portuguese player to advance in the main singles draw of the tournament. He is returning to competitive play following a two-month recovery from physical issues.
In the next round, Domingues will face the fifth seed, Robin Bertrand. Bertrand recently eliminated Tiago Cação with consecutive tiebreak wins. Other Portuguese players, including Diogo Morais, Rodrigo Leal, and Gastão Elias, are also competing in the event held at the Clube de Ténis de Setúbal.
