João Galamba Leads PragmaCharge to Accelerate Electric Heavy‑Truck Adoption in Portugal

Former Portuguese infrastructure minister João Galamba has been appointed director of PragmaCharge, a British platform that provides end‑to‑end solutions for electrifying heavy‑duty road transport across Europe and the United Kingdom. In his new role he will oversee the company’s fleet‑leasing service, charging‑as‑a‑service offering, and digital fleet‑management tools, aiming to make electric heavy trucks viable, scalable and economically attractive for operators in Portugal.

PragmaCharge’s model includes electric‑Trucking‑as‑a‑Service (eTaaS), charging‑as‑a‑Service (CaaS), and the development of charging hubs at ports, rail terminals and logistics centres to remove barriers to decarbonisation. Galamba, who also advises the Global Wind Energy Council and the Global Renewables Alliance, said the “next months will be intense” as the company expands its infrastructure projects and fleet operations throughout Portugal and the wider European market.
