João Gomes expelled during surprise Big Brother Verão gala on TVI

On Tuesday, 7 July, Portuguese broadcaster TVI aired an unexpected gala for the reality show “Big Brother Verão”. Host Maria Botelho Moniz presented from the regular studio. The contestants selected four “invisible” housemates – Íris, Pedro, Vanessa and João Gomes – for a public vote. Vanessa was saved with 53 % of the votes, followed by Íris. In the final duel, the audience chose to eliminate João Gomes, ending his participation in the programme. João’s mother, Ana Luísa, was shown in tears after learning of his exit.

Following the gala, João Gomes appeared on the talk‑show “Dois às 10”, where he reflected on his time in the house, discussed his mother’s reaction and said he had expected her to be the one eliminated. He expressed disappointment at the outcome and commented on the dynamics of the game.
