Brazilian municipalities initiate long-term strategic and educational planning

Several Brazilian municipalities have launched initiatives to establish long-term strategic guidelines for the next decade. In Várzea Grande, the local government presented its 2027–2036 Strategic Plan to the legislature, detailing municipal budget components including the Multi-Year Plan (PPA), Budgetary Guidelines Law (LDO), and Annual Budget Law (LOA).

In the state of Mato Grosso, the State Secretariat of Education (Seduc) provided technical guidance to various municipalities to assist in drafting new Municipal Education Plans (PMEs). These plans aim to set educational priorities and goals for the next ten years based on local diagnostic data.

Similarly, João Monlevade has begun developing its Municipal Education Plan for the 2027–2037 period, following national and state guidelines. Meanwhile, the city of Penedo has invited public participation to update its Municipal Master Plan (PDM), which will govern urban expansion, housing, sanitation, and environmental management for the coming years.
