João Monlevade initiatives target student and graduate support
In João Monlevade, local government and legislative efforts are addressing challenges faced by students and recent graduates. City Councilor Bruno Cabeção has introduced a bill to reform municipal simplified selection processes. The proposal aims to reduce barriers for first-time job seekers by shifting evaluation criteria away from a heavy reliance on previous professional experience and academic titles, instead focusing on skills, knowledge, and aptitudes through compatible testing.
Simultaneously, the Municipal Secretariat of Education has opened applications for the Social University Transport Program. The program offers 16 vacancies: nine for the Vale do Aço region (Timóteo, Coronel Fabriciano, and Ipatinga) and seven for Itabira. To qualify, applicants must reside in João Monlevade for at least one year, be enrolled in a higher education course in the target regions, and demonstrate participation in voluntary service or social projects, though time constraints may allow for waivers.
