The City Hall of João Pessoa has issued guidance for professionals in the beauty and aesthetics sectors, including hair salons, barbershops, tattoo studios, and aesthetic clinics. The alert emphasizes the necessity of biosafety measures to protect both workers and clients from infections caused by accidental contact with blood or the improper use of sharp instruments like needles, blades, and pliers.

Health officials highlighted Hepatitis B as a particular concern due to its potential to become chronic and lead to cirrhosis or liver cancer. To mitigate these risks, the municipality recommends that professionals keep their vaccinations up to date. Specifically, adults are advised to complete a three-dose Hepatitis B vaccine series based on their vaccination history. Other recommended vaccinations include diphtheria, tetanus (dT), yellow fever, and the triple viral vaccine.

In addition to immunization, health authorities stressed the importance of rigorous hygiene, disinfection, and sterilization of reusable tools, as well as the exclusive use of single-use materials where applicable.
