João Pessoa's Emlur launches recycling education partnership with OFFICINA
On 4 July 2026 the Municipal Urban Cleaning Authority of João Pessoa (Emlur‑JP) held a lecture on selective waste collection, recycling and the circular economy for employees of the furniture company OFFICINA. The event marked the start of a partnership aimed at extending environmental education to the corporate sector and improving sustainable waste practices in the city. The training, delivered by Emlur’s Environmental Education Division, covered proper waste segregation, benefits of selective collection and the role of the local recyclers’ association (Ascare) in handling plastic packaging. Participants were encouraged to guide customers on correct disposal, supporting both environmental protection and the socioeconomic inclusion of waste pickers. Multiple local outlets reported the same programme, underscoring the municipality’s commitment to expanding recycling awareness and building a cleaner, more circular urban environment.
