Brazil: Regional infrastructure works and 2026 election health proposals

Various regional developments and political proposals are emerging across Brazil. In the context of the 2026 elections, presidential candidates are presenting diverse health sector strategies, including telemedicina, mental health focus, and debates over the role of the private sector versus a purely state-run system. Specifically, Senate candidate Eduardo Velloso has proposed constructing three new Urgent Care Units (UPAs) in Rio Branco to improve accessibility for residents in outlying neighborhoods.

Infrastructure and public services are also seeing significant activity. In Aparecida de Goiânia, a large-scale asphalt resurfacing program is underway across 167 neighborhoods. In Rio Branco, municipal works are addressing drainage and paving to mitigate flooding. Meanwhile, utility providers are managing local issues, such as emergency water pipe repairs in Rio Claro and scheduled power outages in Anápolis and Goianésia for network modernization.

Community and educational initiatives are also being highlighted, including traffic safety workshops for children in São José and professional development programs for healthcare educators at Hospital Santa Isabel. In Saquarema, public mental health services are being reinforced through the CAPS network.
