João Pessoa: Elderly woman found dead after at least one year

Magna Flora Carvalho da Fonseca, a 78-year-old woman, was found dead in her home in the Bairro dos Estados neighborhood of João Pessoa on August 31. Forensic experts from the Scientific Police Institute estimated that she had been deceased for at least one year, noting that parts of her body had already reached a skeletal state.

Investigators found no signs of violence at the scene, and the cause of death remains undetermined. Additional exams have been requested to clarify the circumstances. The deceased was identified via fingerprints.

Family members described Magna Flora as an independent, deaf, and widowed woman who lived a very private life. According to a second cousin, she lived without running water or electricity following the death of her partner and avoided contact with relatives. She was a native of Cuité, Paraíba, and supported herself through a pension from her late father. Her remains were buried in her hometown of Cuité.
