João Pessoa expands tourist assistance centers as visitor numbers rise

Tourism in João Pessoa has grown both nationally and internationally, prompting a sharp rise in demand for the city's Tourist Assistance Centers (CATs). Five CATs now operate along the coastal promenade and historic centre, including a specially designed Adapted Center for visitors with reduced mobility on Praia do Cabo Branco.

Coordinator Shirley Fernandes reported that the centres provided a wide range of information from basic services such as shops and pharmacies to detailed guidance on attractions, tours, nautical trips and certified guides. Visitor traffic peaked during January, Carnival, Holy Week and the June festivals, boosting local economic activity. The CATs operate daily, with set opening hours for each location, and a mobile unit serves additional tourist hotspots.
