Brazil health updates: Autism center in Manaus and worker health projects in Paraíba

In Amazonas, Governor Roberto Cidade has released a public notice for the construction of the Reference Center for People with Autism Spectrum Disorder (CRTEA/AM) in Manaus. Located at the site of the former Eduardo Ribeiro Hospital, the 8,000-square-meter facility is designed to provide clinical care, therapies, rehabilitation, and social assistance. The center aims to handle up to 2,500 daily appointments and will be integrated into the state health network.

In Paraíba, the João Pessoa Municipal Health Secretariat, through the Worker's Health Reference Center (Cerest), is implementing a project to strengthen mental health care for workers. In partnership with the Federal University of Paraíba, the initiative aims to train professionals across 64 municipalities to better support workers facing mental health issues related to their professional activities. The project is scheduled to run through February 2027.

Additionally, health authorities in João Pessoa have reported temporary internet instability affecting the SUS Card sector due to power supply issues. Users are advised to use the ‘João Pessoa na Palma da Mão’ mobile application for services such as scheduling and registrations while technical teams work to normalize operations.
