João Pessoa implements diverse public health and social development programs
The municipal government of João Pessoa is implementing various social and health initiatives across the region. In the healthcare sector, the city has established itself as a major training hub in the Northeast through its Medical Residency program, which provides intensive postgraduate training for specialists in fields such as Pediatrics and General Surgery. Additionally, the Municipal Santa Isabel Hospital recently held educational activities focused on patient safety and received a certificate of high adherence to safety practices from Agevisa.
Social and economic development programs are also active. The ‘Eu Posso Aprender’ program has trained over two thousand people this year through various professional qualification courses. Furthermore, the ‘Caravana do Cuidar’ initiative has brought essential services, including dental care and social assistance, directly to neighborhoods like Castelo Branco.
Animal welfare and environmental protection are being addressed through the ‘Parque Limpo, Pet Feliz’ action in the Aeroclube neighborhood, offering pet vaccinations, neutering, and adoption incentives. The city's communication department also received regional recognition for its journalistic work in public administration.
