João Pessoa hosts regional FIRST LEGO League robotics competition
On Sunday, João Pessoa will host a regional stage of the international FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Explore robotics tournament for children aged 6 to 10. The event, held at the Centro Escolar Municipal de Atividades Pedagógicas Integradoras (CEMAPI) in the Mangabeira neighbourhood, will feature 185 municipal school students organized into 43 teams. Around 700 participants, families and visitors are expected.
Teams will present projects built with LEGO pieces and programmed to address the season’s theme “Unearthed,” which blends archaeology, technology and innovation. Notable entries include the Aruanda Cyber Kids’ “Scansmile,” a 3‑D scanner designed to capture and store digital records of archaeological artifacts, referencing sites such as Pedra do Ingá, Vale do Catimbau and Serra da Capivara. Another team, Lubotics, also showcased a solution related to the theme.
The competition emphasizes STEAM learning, encouraging students to act as researchers, builders and programmers throughout the project lifecycle.
