João Pessoa implements ceramic learning project in Penha

The João Pessoa City Hall, through the Secretariat of Education and Culture (Sedec), has launched a ceramic project at the Antônio Santos Coelho Neto Municipal School in the Penha neighborhood. The initiative, titled ‘The EJA Experience with Ceramics: Clay Carried by the Waters’, is designed for students in Cycles II, III, and IV of Youth and Adult Education (EJA).

The project is part of an interdisciplinary program called ‘Ancestrality, Ecology, and the Sea’. It integrates various subjects, including Mathematics, History, Art, Geography, Science, and Portuguese, to connect academic content with the students' cultural and territorial experiences.

Given that the Penha community is recognized as a quilombola community, the project aims to value traditional knowledge and ancestrality. The workshops are supported by artists and professors Ilson Moraes and Jeorge Paiva, working alongside the EJA Coordination to align the activities with the school's pedagogical plan.
