The city of João Pessoa is preparing for the 6th International Marathon, scheduled for August 1‑2, to celebrate the municipality’s 441st anniversary. The Superintendence of Urban Mobility (Semob‑JP) has deployed 100 mobility agents and detailed traffic‑control plans, assigning vehicles to the left lane for runners and the right lane for traffic, with reduced speed limits on the race routes.

The race will start and finish at the Centro de Convenções Poeta Ronaldo Cunha Lima, with four distances – 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 km – whose official maps are now available on the event website. Secretary of Youth, Sports and Recreation Juliano Sucupira explained that early release of the routes helps athletes plan pacing, hydration and logistics. Superintendent of Mobility Marcílio do HBE emphasized the careful preparation of signage, cameras and on‑site monitoring to ensure safety for the thousands of participants and spectators expected at the venue.
