João Pessoa launches green Corrida dos Parques race

The municipality of João Pessoa will hold the Corrida dos Parques on June 28, starting at 6 a.m. in Parque Parahyba III, Bessa. Organized by the city’s Environment Secretariat with technical execution by the Youth, Sports and Recreation Secretariat, the event offers 5 km and 10 km runs, a 3 km walk, a Family Run for children and a 3 km canicross race.

Mayor‑appointed officials say the race aims to promote healthy habits and encourage use of public green spaces. Youth, Sports and Recreation Secretary Joãozinho Neto said, “A Corrida dos Parques incentiva a população a ocupar os espaços públicos de forma saudável, praticando atividade física e fortalecendo a relação com as áreas verdes da nossa cidade.” Executive Secretary of Parks and Green Areas Dema Macedo added, “Esta é a corrida mais verde do Brasil. Cada atleta inscrito garante o plantio de uma árvore em João Pessoa.”

Registrations are open online via the Race83 platform, with an early‑bird fee of R$ 89.90. Participants receive a kit with a custom shirt, timing chip, finisher medal, hydration, athlete insurance and partner gifts.
