João Pessoa launches Procon-JP consumer rights program for 2,556 students

The inaugural session of the Procon-JP "Vai à Aulas" 2026 program took place on Saturday, 18 May, at the Escola Municipal Presidente João Pessoa in the Jardim Veneza neighborhood of João Pessoa, Brazil. The course enrolled 2,556 ninth‑grade and EJA (Youth and Adult Education) students from the municipal school system to study basic consumer‑rights concepts.

The initiative, organized by the João Pessoa City Hall through the local consumer protection agency Procon‑JP, has been running since 2021 and has benefitted a total of 12,821 students. Each participant receives a R$ 700 scholarship and a certificate upon completion. The program is carried out in partnership with the Municipal Secretariat of Education, which handles student selection and provides school facilities. Its goal is to train young people as community educators of consumer rights, particularly targeting those from socially and economically vulnerable families.
