João Pessoa launches program to integrate migrants into formal jobs
On Thursday, July 9, the Forum Maximiano Figueiredo in the João Agripino district of João Pessoa, Paraíba, will host the launch of the “Sou CLT – Edição Migrante: Direitos que Cruzam Fronteiras” program. The initiative, organized by the Regional Labor Court (TRT‑13) in partnership with the municipal government, the National Employment System of João Pessoa (Sine‑JP) and the Secretariat of Economic Development and Labor (Sedest), aims to improve access for international migrants, refugees and asylum‑seeking workers to formal, salaried employment.
The program will provide guidance on Brazilian labor rights, professional training and direct job‑matching services. Coordinator of Sine‑JP Carlisson Figueiredo said, “Nossa expectativa é muito positiva. Esperamos que os migrantes acolhidos em João Pessoa encontrem neste evento informações, acolhimento e oportunidades de inserção no mercado de trabalho.” Participants will receive employability assistance and be linked to vacancy listings that match their profiles, while educational talks will cover workers’ rights and obligations under Brazilian law.
