João Pessoa Maker Labs Gear Up Students for 2026 National Robotics Event

Municipal schools in João Pessoa have established Maker Labs (LabMaker) that allow groups of students to develop robotics projects and compete regionally, nationally and internationally. The program, coordinated by the city’s Department of Information and Communication Technology, partners with public universities and research institutions to foster teamwork, creativity and technical skills.

The students are preparing for the "Robótica 2026" exhibition, scheduled for 23‑29 November at the João Pessoa Convention Center. The event will host Brazil’s three major robotics contests – the Brazilian Robotics Olympiad (OBR), the Petrobras Brazilian Robotics Competition (CBR) and the National Robotics Show (MNR) – and is billed as the largest robotics and artificial‑intelligence gathering in Latin America, with free public entry.

Organizers say the initiative aims to position João Pessoa as a national hub for education, innovation and technology, while giving young talent exposure to future competitions such as the First Lego League, World Robot Olympiad and local robotics tournaments.
