João Pessoa International Marathon adds real-time runner tracking
The 6th edition of the João Pessoa International Marathon, held over two days, will for the first time offer real‑time tracking of participants in the marathon, half‑marathon, 10 km and 5 km races. A leading Brazilian timing company will provide a digital platform that shows live positions, split times and official results, and includes a QR‑code system to speed medical assistance if needed.
The initiative is part of the city’s investment through the Secretariat of Youth, Sports and Recreation (Sejer). Sports Secretary Joãozinho Neto said the technology improves both the athletes’ experience and spectator engagement, while race director Juliano Sucupira highlighted it as a modern safety and information tool for the event.
