João Pessoa Marathon Gold Label World Athletics Brazil Gigante Paraíba

The International Marathon of João Pessoa received a renewed Gold Label from the Brazilian Athletics Confederation and kept its World Athletics recognition for the 2026 edition. The certification confirms the race meets the highest technical and organizational standards, allowing athletes’ times to be officially validated for qualification to major marathons worldwide.

The event, now part of the Brazil Gigante circuit that showcases eight premier Brazilian marathons, will take place on 1‑2 August 2026 and include 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and the full 42.195 km distances. Organisers highlighted the race’s role in promoting sport tourism in the Northeast and its contribution to the national running calendar.
