Festa das Neves draws crowds with music and cordel events in João Pessoa

The annual Festa das Neves cultural festival took place at Parque Solon de Lucena in João Pessoa, Brazil. The weekend featured live performances by the bands Caronas do Opala, Tentáculos and Conde Só Brega, followed by additional acts such as Pagode do Meu Agrado, singer Gera Almeida and Banda Aveloz. The event’s director, Marcus Alves of the municipal cultural foundation Funjope, said the festival “integrates families” and showcases the city’s cultural diversity.

A three‑day Tenda do Cordel was held alongside the festival, offering poetry readings, music and crafts from cordelists and artisans from João Pessoa and other Paraíba towns. Alves highlighted the initiative as part of the city’s effort to promote popular culture, literature and forró music.

On Saturday, the Sabadinho Bom program presented singer Polyana Resende in Praça Rio Branco, delivering a free samba concert that supports the historic centre’s micro‑economy. Alves credited Mayor Leo Bezerra’s policies for fostering such cultural activities across the city.
