Brazil meat and commodity markets show price variations

A recent survey by Procon in João Pessoa, Brazil, revealed significant price disparities for meat products across 23 establishments. The study found a difference of up to R$ 50.80 per kilogram for beef fillet, with prices ranging from R$ 65.00 to R$ 115.80. The highest percentage variation was observed in national picanha at 99.98%, while chicken fillet also showed a 100% price fluctuation.

On a broader market scale, the Brazilian livestock sector reported stability and selective increases in the price of fat cows (vaca gorda) during the week ending August 15, 2026. Prices in São Paulo markets like Barretos and Araçatuba reached R$ 321.00 for cash transactions.

In the first half of August 2026, agricultural commodities showed mixed trends. While beef and calf prices remained relatively stable, they showed significant year-over-year growth. Soybeans reached a nominal peak for 2026 at R$ 149.0 per bag, and corn prices rose by 1.7% compared to late July.
