Brazil mobilizes security and energy resources for 2026 elections FAST-MOVING

Brazil is implementing extensive security and infrastructure measures for the 2026 general elections. The National Electric System Operator (ONS) has initiated preventive monitoring from Saturday through Monday to ensure grid stability during the first round of voting. This operation, which will be repeated for the second round on October 25, includes requests for energy distributors to maintain emergency maintenance teams on standby and avoid scheduled load shedding.

The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has mandated that all energy generators, transmitters, and distributors implement special service plans, prioritizing voting locations and electoral courts. Companies such as Neoenergia, Enel, and Energisa have reported proactive measures, including network maintenance and the deployment of strategic generators.

Security forces are also mobilizing nationwide. In São Paulo, the Public Security Secretariat is deploying police to protect 34.1 million voters and secure electronic voting machines. In Espírito Santo, over 9,200 security professionals have been mobilized. In the Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul regions, the Military Command of the West is deploying more than 1,400 personnel for the GVA Pantanal 2026 operation to ensure order in urban, indigenous, and rural areas.
