The municipality of João Pessoa launched several initiatives in July 2026. The city’s digital department trained staff in digital competencies and hosted the second Forum of Digital and Smart Cities, gathering over 50 local officials to discuss technology for public services. The municipal health secretariat expanded its Combined Prevention programme for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, offering condoms, PrEP, PEP and testing in primary‑care units. A public hearing under the “Você Prefeito” programme was held to collect residents’ demands from the 6th, 9th and 10th regions. The city’s administration also organized an online extrajudicial auction of 119 in‑service assets, including vehicles and machinery, to reduce municipal costs. The Tribunal de Contas da Paraíba presented the rollout schedule for the Sagres Captura 2.0 system, a new real‑time data‑exchange platform for municipal accounting. In partnership with the Regional Labor Court, the local government facilitated a job‑matching event for Venezuelan migrants, providing employment information and registration. Governor Lucas Ribeiro met industrial leaders to prioritize the revitalisation of João Pessoa’s Industrial District, aiming to attract investment and create jobs.
