João Pessoa municipality launches testing platform for new national service invoice standard

The Municipal Revenue Secretariat of João Pessoa (Serem) has opened an online testing environment for the new National Service Invoice (NFSe) format, required for the upcoming Consumption Tax Reform (RTC). Taxpayers can test electronic invoicing with the new mandatory fields until July 31, after which the new format becomes compulsory on August 1. The same login credentials used for the current system allow both portal users and software developers to submit test invoices via the portal and API.

Secretary of Revenue Sebastião Feitosa noted that the reform aims to simplify tax collection by unifying documents and replacing IPI, PIS, COFINS, ICMS and ISS with the Imposto sobre Bens e Serviços (IBS), the Contribuição sobre Bens e Serviços (CBS) and the Imposto Seletivo (IS). Additionally, businesses under the Simples Nacional regime will be required to use the national NFSe emitter starting September 1, as stipulated by CGSN Resolution 189.
