João Pessoa students participate in Brazilian Robotics Olympiad

Approximately 550 students from the João Pessoa Municipal Education Network are participating in the state stage of the 2026 Brazilian Robotics Olympiad. The event, held at Mangabeira Shopping, features 140 teams from the municipality, accounting for more than 25% of the total participants in the competition.

The students are competing in both rescue and artistic robotics categories. This large-scale participation follows significant municipal investments in Maker Spaces, Google Classrooms, and LEGO® Education technology. Currently, 100% of the schools within the municipal network have integrated robotics into their curriculum.

Elisson Abreu Dutra, the municipality's Director of Educational Informatics, noted that the innovation ecosystem has led to national recognition and the release of 16 Junior Scientific Initiation scholarships by CNPq in 2026. The city is also set to host the National Robotics Stage later this year.
