João Pessoa police arrest man for fake Pix payment fraud

The Civil Police of Paraíba arrested a man in flagrante in João Pessoa for allegedly using fake Pix payment receipts to defraud a local merchant. The suspect, originally from São Paulo, reportedly used falsified WhatsApp confirmations to purchase two mobile phones from a store located in Shopping Terceirão.

The fraud was uncovered when the suspect attempted to acquire a third device using the same method. Following the identification of the scam, police monitored a delivery made via a transport application to the Ernesto Geisel neighborhood, where they apprehended the suspect as he received the product.

Investigations revealed that the individual also faces criminal charges in the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
