João Pessoa students develop botany project for robotics tournaments
Students from the Escola Municipal Antônio Santos Coelho Neto in João Pessoa are developing a pioneering botany project to represent the city in upcoming robotics tournaments, including the Future Edition and Founders Edition in Rio de Janeiro and Maranhão. As the sole representatives from the Northeast region, the students are working on a project to create a compound that assists plant development in arid environments with limited water availability.
The initiative aims to help seeds germinate and plants grow in dry terrain, thereby reducing the need for constant irrigation. The project is supported by technical assistance from the João Pessoa Secretariat of Environment (Semam). As part of their research, students visited the Parque Zoobotânico Arruda Câmara and the Municipal Nursery to study local flora and the production process of seedlings.
