João Rock festival aids flood victims in Ribeirão Preto

The 23rd edition of the João Rock music festival, held in Ribeirão Preto on 1 August, launched a "Ingresso Solidário" campaign. Proceeds from solidarity tickets and food donations are being directed to the city's Social Solidarity Fund to support residents affected by the severe thunderstorms on 24 July, which caused wind gusts up to 70 km/h, about 30 mm of rain, an emergency declaration and a state of public calamity. A 90‑year‑old man died after a collapse.

Organisers said the festival suffered only minor damage to movable structures and continued as planned, while extending the food‑collection drive to all ticket sales.
