João Velho files police report over social media comment regarding brother's death

João Velho, son of Brazilian actress Cissa Guimarães, has filed a criminal complaint with the Cybercrime Repression Police Department (DRCI) in Rio de Janeiro following a social media comment that glorified the individual responsible for his brother's death.

The comment, posted on Instagram, praised Rafael de Souza Bussamra, who was convicted in a 2010 incident involving the fatal hit-and-run of Velho's brother, Rafael Mascarenhas. The user wrote, “In the next election we will have Rafael Bussamra, to run over the left. My hero doesn't wear a cape, he uses a car steering wheel.”

Velho's attorney, Ricardo Brajterman, stated that the comment uses a family tragedy to launch political attacks and may constitute threats or insults. The legal team is requesting an investigation and asking Meta to provide data to identify the account holder responsible for the post.
