Joonas Rinne joins Swedish coaching group in Gothenburg

Finnish middle-distance runner Joonas Rinne is transitioning to a new coaching setup in Sweden to seek new stimuli for his career. He will join the training group led by Ulf Friberg, based in Gothenburg.

As part of this move, Rinne will train alongside elite miler Samuel Pihlström, a European Championship silver medalist. The shift aims to improve Rinne’s endurance base and provide access to higher-level competition opportunities. While Rinne has been coached by his mother, Minna Rinne, since his junior years, he expressed a desire to explore different training methodologies to ensure he reaches his full potential before retirement.

In addition to the Gothenburg base, Rinne will continue his established routine of international training camps, including locations such as South Africa.
