Joongheung Group Chairman pledges 10 billion won to Honam Mega Project

At the first International Forum for Semiconductor and AI Transformation held at the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jung Won-ju, Chairman of Joongheung Media Group, Daewoo E&C, and Herald, announced a 10 billion won donation to support the Honam Mega Project and the success of South Korea’s semiconductor and AI clusters.

Jung emphasized that the Honam Mega Project is a transformative initiative designed to reshape the regional industrial structure by connecting advanced processes, AI-related materials, components, equipment, R&D, and talent cultivation into a single ecosystem. He noted that integrating Honam’s existing AI capabilities and energy foundations with high-tech industries like semiconductors could establish the region as a central pillar for South Korea’s future industries.

The project aims to address structural challenges in the Honam region, such as youth outflow, population decline, and a weak industrial base, by turning the area into a hub that attracts young talent through high-tech growth.
