Joplin, Missouri and Boone County Announce New Waste Collection Options

The City of Joplin renewed its solid‑waste contract with Republic Services effective Oct. 1. The agreement adds a biweekly yard‑waste pickup for a $3 surcharge, requires residents to bundle green waste in biodegradable bags, and changes the bulky‑item pickup process to a scheduled, four‑cubic‑yard limit with no extra fee. Weekly trash collection and optional recycling services remain unchanged.

In Boone County, landfill administrator John Roosa confirmed a household hazardous‑waste collection event scheduled for Aug. 15, coordinated with the City of Jefferson and extending outreach to nearby Green County. The event aims to provide a convenient drop‑off for hazardous materials and will be staffed by county personnel to assist residents.
