Jorba municipality demands river cleaning to prevent flooding

The Jorba City Council has issued an urgent formal request to the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) demanding immediate cleaning and obstacle removal in the Anoia riverbed. The request specifically targets the section between the Ganxo bridge and the border with Copons, including the Cal Tetes area.

Local authorities report that the accumulation of dead biomass, fallen large-diameter trees, and natural dikes has severely compromised the river's drainage capacity. Mayor Pilar Queralt warned that these obstructions could create a dangerous ‘dam effect’ during sudden heavy rainfall or DANA weather events, which are becoming more frequent due to climate change.

The municipality is calling for an urgent technical reassessment and the immediate execution of works to remove fallen vegetation and restore hydraulic capacity to the area.
