Jordan and Morocco Reject Changes to Jerusalem's Historic Status

Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs for Expatriates Ayem al‑Safadi held a phone conversation with Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Cooperation, Nasser Bouriṭa. The two officials expressed deep concern over recent Israeli actions in Jerusalem that they say aim to alter the historic and legal status of the city’s holy sites.

Both ministers condemned the incursions by Israeli Knesset members and extremist groups into the Al‑Aqsa compound, denounced systematic violations of the sanctuary, and reaffirmed the Hashemite custodianship of Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian sites. They reiterated that any attempts to change the historic and legal situation of Jerusalem would breach international law and humanitarian values.

The call underscores ongoing coordination between Jordan and Morocco on the Jerusalem issue, with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Morocco’s King Mohammed VI heading their respective Jerusalem committees.
