Jordan and Syria issued heat warnings as hot air mass approaches

Jordan and Syria are bracing for an influx of hot air from the Arabian Peninsula starting this Thursday.

In Jordan, the Meteorological Department has warned of rising temperatures, with particularly intense heat expected in the Badia, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba regions. Authorities have advised citizens to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, increase fluid intake, and refrain from leaving flammable materials in closed vehicles.

Similarly, Syria's Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management has issued warnings for internal, eastern, and Al-Jazira regions. Temperatures are expected to rise 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above average on Friday and Saturday, before receding on Sunday. The ministry has issued safety guidelines including avoiding travel during peak hours, monitoring electrical connections, and being cautious of snakes and scorpions in agricultural and forested areas.
