Jordan Bardella denies antisemitic allegations from Mediapart investigation

Jordan Bardella, president of the Rassemblement National (RN), is facing allegations of antisemitism following an investigation by Mediapart. The report claims that between 2013 and 2014, Bardella made antisemitic remarks in private Facebook Messenger chats during his early years as an activist.

Mediapart asserts that it obtained verified chat logs from Meta to support these claims. In response, Bardella has dismissed the evidence as 'pseudo-evidence' and 'manipulable screenshots,' denying he was the author of the messages. He has instructed his legal counsel to file a lawsuit for forgery and misuse of documents.

The controversy has impacted the RN's campaign strategy. Marine Le Pen, who has previously identified Bardella as her intended Prime Minister, attempted to redirect media attention toward housing issues during a recent visit to Paris. Meanwhile, party figure Jean-Philippe Tanguy has defended the party, accusing Mediapart of attempting to discredit the RN. Tanguy was recently appointed as the coordinator for the economy and finance sector of the presidential campaign.
