Jordan border security increases as Israeli gangs smuggle drugs via drones

Israeli criminal gangs are using balloons and quadcopter drones to smuggle large quantities of drugs into Jordan. According to authorities, the smuggled substances include hashish, crystal meth, and amphetamines.

Criminals are reportedly exploiting rising street prices in Jordan. Israeli estimates suggest that a single kilogram of hashish is currently valued at 7,500 pounds in the country. In response to the influx of tens of thousands of kilograms of drugs, Jordanian security forces have intensified patrols and upgraded surveillance towers and drone capabilities along the border.

In addition to narcotics, Israeli military and law enforcement agencies have reported the seizure of weapons being smuggled from Jordan into Israel, including a drone carrying nine Kalashnikov rifles last month.
