Jordan Dawson reports social media abuse to police
Adelaide Crows captain Jordan Dawson has reported a targeted social media attack to the South Australian Police and the AFL integrity unit. Following the Crows’ semifinal loss to the Brisbane Lions, Dawson received a direct message on Instagram containing references to self-harm.
Dawson, who has become an advocate for mental health following the death of his brother Jarryd earlier this year, addressed the abuse publicly on social media. During the All-Australian night, he delivered an emotional speech regarding mental health awareness.
Crows CEO Tim Silvers stated that such behavior is becoming increasingly common and must stop. The club noted that teammate Callum Ah Chee also faced social media abuse after the game. Dawson was recently honored with the Robert Rose Most Courageous Player Award and was named vice captain of the All-Australian team.
