Jordan faces regional threats from Iranian strikes and Israeli expansion

Jordan has recently faced increased regional instability due to Iranian missile and drone activity and potential Israeli territorial expansion. According to official Jordanian data, 21 missiles entered the kingdom's airspace during a recent escalation, with the Jordanian Armed Forces successfully intercepting 18. Three missiles landed in remote areas away from population centers, resulting in no reported casualties or property damage.

While Iranian-aligned platforms claimed strikes targeted the King Hussein Air Base and the Martyr Pilot Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, Jordanian officials maintain the country is not a party to the conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States. Strategic experts suggest these repeated strikes may reflect Iranian indecision rather than a shift in targeting policy.

Beyond the threat from Iran, Jordanian officials and citizens express significant existential concern regarding Israeli policies in the West Bank. There is widespread fear that Israeli annexation of West Bank territories could trigger a mass displacement of Palestinians into Jordan. This scenario, often referred to locally as the ‘alternative homeland’ plan, is viewed as a major threat to Jordan's demographic and political stability.
