Jordan Henderson makes Chelsea debut in 3-0 loss to Brentford

Jordan Henderson made his first start for Chelsea in a 3-0 defeat against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium. The 36-year-old midfielder, who recently returned from a broken arm sustained during the World Cup, played the full 90 minutes in his debut for manager Xabi Alonso.

The match was marked by tension as Henderson appeared to engage in a heated exchange with Brentford goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez following a corner that led to a goal. Henderson also had a confrontation with defender Maxence Lacroix during the difficult outing for the Blues.

Following the performance, Paul Scholes suggested that Henderson should not be used as a starter in the Premier League this season due to the pace of the game. Scholes recommended that Alonso utilize the veteran midfielder in a limited capacity, specifically during the final 15 to 20 minutes of matches.
