Jordan launches trial intercity BRT service linking Amman, Tafila and Ma'an

Jordan's Land Transport Regulatory Authority announced the start of a trial operation for the second phase of its intercity Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project on 2 August 2026, following a cabinet decision approving the launch earlier this year. The phase includes two main lines: Amman‑Tafila, operated by the national company Roabi Tafila, and Amman‑Ma'an, operated by Rboue Ma'an, each formed through a joint‑operator consortium.

The Amman‑Tafila line will run a fleet of 33 large and medium‑size buses from 05:00 to 19:00 with headways of 25–40 minutes, serving routes such as the South Complex, Tafila Complex, and the University of Jordan corridor. The Amman‑Ma'an line will use 14 buses from 05:00 to 18:00 with 45–60 minute intervals, connecting the South Complex with the Ma'an Complex. The authority urged citizens to use the new services and said its monitoring teams will assess performance throughout the trial period to ensure quality and public benefit.
