Jordanian Cabinet approves judicial digitalization and insurance reforms
The Jordanian Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, has approved several regulatory amendments aimed at modernizing judicial, financial, and administrative sectors.
In the judicial sector, a new regulation for the use of electronic means in civil judicial procedures for 2026 was approved. This initiative, part of the 2022–2026 justice sector strategy, seeks to accelerate litigation by utilizing audiovisual communication and eliminating paper-based requirements for electronic filings.
Regarding the insurance sector, the Cabinet approved amendments to the Guarantee Fund for Insured Persons and Beneficiaries. This move aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision, aiming to protect policyholders and maintain sector confidence by shifting from a reactive model to a preventive one. The regulation encourages financially stable insurance companies to merge with weaker firms, offering tax or contribution exemptions to the merging entities as determined by the Central Bank.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the administrative organization project for the Royal Academy for Inclusive Education for Persons with Disabilities and authorized the settlement of 970 outstanding cases between taxpayers and the Income and Sales Tax Department.
