Jordy Abraham Martínez Leads Yucatán Tourism Council, Calls for Private Sector Role

Jordy Abraham Martínez was sworn in as president of the Consejo Empresarial Turístico de Yucatán (CETUR) for the 2026‑2027 term. He said the council will strengthen the private sector’s representation, act as a permanent interlocutor with state and municipal authorities, and support tourism policy planning without seeking to replace government functions. Priorities include expanding membership to businesses, chambers, associations and universities across the state, promoting a professional and transparent tourism promotion strategy, and allocating 100 % of lodging‑tax revenues to promotion with transparent evaluation mechanisms. Martínez highlighted the need for coordinated action among entrepreneurs, universities and municipalities to boost destinations such as Valladolid, Izamal and Progreso. He warned the council will flag areas where adjustments are needed to improve competitiveness. The ceremony was attended by State Tourism Secretary Darío Flota Ocampo, Mérida mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada and representatives of the hotel, restaurant and business sectors.
