Jorge Arévalo exhibits portraits of 25 master architects

Illustrator Jorge Arévalo has launched an exhibition titled ‘Sillas y arquitectos’ (Chairs and Architects) at La Fiambrera in Madrid. The collection features 25 portraits of influential 20th-century architects, including Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius, Oscar Niemeyer, Frank Gehry, and Frank Lloyd Wright.

Arévalo’s minimalist style uses straight lines and flat colors to depict these masters interacting playfully with their own chair designs. The artist noted that while architects are often associated with their massive buildings, the chairs allow for a more humanized and ironic relationship between the creator and their work. The exhibition is part of the XXIII International Architecture Week organized by the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM) and will remain open until November 15.
