Jorge Capitanich visit to Villa Ocampo suspended amid local protests

The planned visit of former Chaco Governor Jorge Capitanich to Villa Ocampo and northern Santa Fe has been suspended. While organizers officially cited “agenda problems” for the cancellation, the visit faced significant local opposition.

Mónica Corgniali, mother of truck driver Fernando Francovich—who was murdered in Chaco—led the community's rejection through petitions and social media campaigns. Corgniali criticized Capitanich’s security management, linking it to the circumstances surrounding her son’s death and referencing the Cecilia Strzyzowski case. She stated that if the visit is rescheduled, the community will mobilize again to express their disapproval.
