Jorge Frías honored by Dominican Republic Chamber of Deputies

The Dominican Republic's Chamber of Deputies held funeral honors for Deputy Jorge Frías at the National Assembly Hall. The ceremony was led by Alfredo Pacheco, President of the Chamber of Deputies, and Ricardo de los Santos, President of the Senate, alongside legislators and family members.

Officials praised Frías for his political and legislative career, noting his deep connection to the communities he represented. Alfredo Pacheco described Frías as a friend and brother, highlighting his ability to connect with citizens and his continued activity in parliamentary commissions even during his illness. Senate President Ricardo de los Santos emphasized that Frías remained committed to his roots throughout his life.

Rafael Evaristo Santos Badía, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (MESCyT), also paid tribute to the deceased, describing him as a political reference point who rose from humble neighborhoods in the eastern zone of the country through loyalty and community work. Regarding the vacancy in the Chamber of Deputies, it was noted that the relevant political party must present a shortlist of candidates to fill the seat.
