Jorge Gavidia's potential move to Obras Party

Following his resignation from the Buen Gobierno Party due to disagreements over legislative powers granted to the Executive, Senator Jorge Gavidia may join the Obras Civic Party. Daniel Barragán, spokesperson for the Obras caucus, stated that the party's doors remain open to Gavidia, though any formal incorporation would require an internal evaluation.

Barragán suggested that if Gavidia's departure was due to doctrinal differences, the Buen Gobierno Party may have erred in including him on their parliamentary list. He noted that there have been voting coincidences between Gavidia and Obras in the past.

In contrast, Alfonso López Chau, leader of Ahora Nación, rejected the idea of recruiting Gavidia, stating that his party does not encourage political defection (transfuguismo). Additionally, Barragán clarified that the Obras party will not initiate disciplinary proceedings against Senator Juana Ticona regarding her abstention on the legislative powers request.
